Advocacy in NIEA Hill Week in Washington D.C.
In February, I joined Native education leaders and advocates in Washington, D.C. for NIEA Hill Week — a gathering dedicated to advancing Indigenous education and protecting Native language programs. I shared our Oneida community’s story on a national stage, reminding stakeholders that Native languages are essential for sovereignty, healing, and the future of our people.
The origins of Skaˀnikú·lat
It is with immense joy to announce the birth of a dream. Skaˀnikú·lat was envisioned for over a decade by many hands and hearts — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in Oneida language and culture reclamation. This movement is about healing the past while creating a thriving future, building a school and ecosystem where our language and ways of being live once again.
